SEASON THREE: UPRISING
NEXT UP: CHURCH
SAN DIEGO PREMIERE!
Wriiten by Young Jean Lee
Directed by Kym Pappas
Acclaimed playwright and director Young Jean Lee transforms her life-long struggle with Christianity into an exuberant church service. Both celebratory and confrontational, CHURCH will test the expectations of religious and non-religious alike—looking deep into why we believe what we believe.
*Produced in association with Dramatists Play Service
“Church” is as much about the art of persuasion as it is about religion. It’s organized like an excellent and occasionally angry argument, starting by attacking the opponent’s ideas and finishing by proposing new ones. But who is Ms. Lee arguing with? The supposedly godless denizens of the theater world? Or is she confronting her own lack of faith?

In a way, it is a bit of nostalgia for me paired with the kind of love I hope to see everyone receive. Read more here!
